Crataea is the world's largest and most populous continent. It covers 9% of the world's total surface area. More than 2.3 billion people live in Crataea, spread out over numerous key religious and ethnic identities. It is bordered to the north by Arterus and the Axackal Sea, to the south by the Antarctic Ocean, to the west by the Ingenic Ocean, and to the east by the Oryontic ocean and Veridis. The continent comprises seventeen sovereign states and 4 million sq-mi of non-state territory, including Questers and Sovereign Sharfland.

Crataea can be divided into varying ethnic and cultural zones of influence, but theses areas are controversial and not universally accepted amongst the peoples of Crataea. Similarly, the origin of Crataean culture is disputed, with nearly every nation-state in the continent claiming to be the centre of the continent's cultural heritage. Despite the significant diversity, ethnic migration in Crataea is well-documented, and there are numerous religious and cultural practices that pervade the entire continent.
Most nation-states in Crataea owe significant amounts of their territorial and ethnic-culture heritage to the Golden Horde, a military tribe which conquered the majority of the fertile area of the continent between 1055 and 1190. Crataean countries still dispute which nation exactly is the legitimate legal successor of the Golden Horde.
