The Wolohannic Confederation is a nation-state in west Arterus comprising numerous Wolohannic tribes under a central government. Spread out over 7.1 million square kilometres, the Confederation is the 2nd-largest country in the world by land area, and with 168 million citizens, the 6th-largest by population.
The Praetannic exonym of the Wolohannic Confederation and of its people, is believed to be derived from the Dumani term Volohannae, which is in turn derived of the Metsänkieli word valo, meaning light. The equivalent Wolohannic endonym, Aurinko Kansakuntien (Solar Nations), has been in use since 1947 and was chosen to symbolise national unity through Pantheonist thought.
Politics are governed by the Wolohannic Constitution, written at the end of the Wolohannic civil war by the victorious Pantheonist Popular Front. The Constitution makes the Front the only legal political party and forms a Tribal Council to which all Wolohannic tribes are invited to send representatives. The executive government is led by the Headman who is selected by special session of the Popular Front. The Headman directs the country's executive departments.
The Popular Front pervades daily life, with Front officials present in schools, housing blocks, factories, and all organisations. The Popular Front runs its own state media, youth wing, and paramilitary. The state religion of the Confederation is Wolohannic pantheonism.
The Popular Front's position on foreign relations is highly irredentist, and can be considered pan-nationalist. The Front aims to unite Wolohannic people and pantheonists into one state. The Front's ideology poses for conflict with its Oswinite neighbours (Tule, Regenmark, Fanta) but has closer relations with Crataean pantheonist countries such as Dumanum and Sukaria.
The Wolohannic civil war and several prior decades of unrest severely destabilised the Wolohannic state. A key-stone of the country's politics and foreign relations are a Wolohannic resurgence on the world stage. To this end, Wolo's foreign politics seek to build self-dependence in both economic and technological affairs.
